At Battlefield Press, quality isn’t a slogan; it’s a system. Every stage of production is controlled by documented quality checks, standardized procedures, and sign offs that ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability. Our process has been refined over decades to meet the highest standards of commercial printing and packaging.
Pre-Flight Inspection
Before any job moves into production, our team performs a pre-flight check. This includes:
- Verifying job specifications against the quotation and client requirements.
- Confirming all assets are supplied, including fonts, images, dielines, and production notes.
- Checking stock availability to ensure timelines can be met.
- Opening and analyzing all electronic files to confirm they match the quoted specifications.
Pre-Press Quality Control
Next, our experienced prepress department processes the files. Each job undergoes:
- Initial printouts for visual inspection of layout, positioning, and technical issues.
- Direct client communication if inconsistencies or file problems are identified.
- Proofing and post-flight checks, ensuring every proof matches the approved specifications and expectations.
- Approval verification, with all proofs reviewed in alignment with job-specific quality requirements.
Press Inspection & Colour Management
Once a job is approved for press:
- Plates are produced, scanned, and inspected by the production team.
- Press operators follow colour and quality standards to ensure consistency across the entire run.
- A press-ready sheet is inspected and signed off by the production manager and/or client.
- Density and L*A*B* readings are taken repeatedly during the startup and production of each job. Standardized by industry, maintained by Battlefield.
- All colour data is stored for future reprints, ensuring repeat jobs match perfectly from run to run.
Bindery & Finishing Inspection
Finishing operations follow their own defined quality protocols. Each station performs:
- In-process inspections to confirm folding accuracy, glue integrity, trimming precision, and structural alignment.
- Job-specific checks that ensure the final product meets customer requirements and packaging tolerances.
- Supervisor sign-offs at critical stages to maintain consistency and catch variances early.
