Case Studies

Every packaging project starts with an idea. Our case studies highlight how we collaborate with customers to transform concepts into practical, high-impact packaging solutions. From structural challenges to creative retail presentations, these examples show how ideas become reality.

The Art of Rush

It’s one thing to plan a 272-page coffee table book worthy of an iconic artist’s life’s work. It’s another thing to print it. Two months, five specialty treatments and 256 plates later, Battlefield had printed a retrospective of Hugh Syme’s artwork that balanced Hugh’s exacting standards with Showtech’s need to keep costs manageable, all in a tight timeline. This project earned Battlefield the 2016 Printer of the Year award from Sappi.

A Book Worthy of the Legacy

Celebrating 50 years of The National Golf Club of Canada called for a book that felt as enduring as the history it preserved. Battlefield produced a 272-page hardcover commemorative book, printed in LED process plus spot colour on Cougar Smooth stock. A rich dark green linen cover wrap, precision debossing and gold foil stamping across the cover and spine gave the book a distinguished finish, completed by a white-gold linen belly band. Every material and detail worked together to create a lasting tribute to the Club’s first five decades.

The Brand Experience on Wheels

Greenhorizons Sod Farms wanted a trade show giveaway that would do more than hold a product. It needed to capture attention and make their brand instantly recognizable. Inspired by the company’s iconic delivery trucks, Battlefield’s structural design and prototyping department developed a fully custom die-cut tray and lid to hold an eight-pack of tea light candles. Printed in process colours with a gloss coating on sturdy 18 pt C1S board, the finished carton transformed a simple giveaway into a memorable brand experience with a lasting impression.

Crafting the Trad Hunters Look

Trad Hunters set out to create a magazine that feels as though it could have been printed in 1955. Personally designed by the husband-and-wife team behind the publication, every volume carries that vision through its artwork, layout, typography and paper finish. Battlefield worked closely with their team to select the right stock and refine the colour curves, achieving the natural, woodsy appearance so important to the series. Each issue is printed in LED UV process, finished with an uncoated cover and perfect bound in a compact 6″ × 9″ format that fits comfortably in a hunting pack without compromising image detail.
