History
Since 1964, our family-owned printing company has built a reputation for quality, reliability, and trusted service. What started as a small family business has grown into a leading provider of commercial printing and specialty print solutions, combining decades of experience with modern printing technology to serve businesses across Canada.
Our Beginnings
1964-1988
Battlefield Press was founded by the Theoret family in 1964. Our first print shop was located on King Street in Stoney Creek, just down the road from Battlefield Park— the monument that inspired our name. This original location is where Battlefield planted its roots. It’s remembered fondly for its humble beginnings, including receiving materials through a basement window. The family often jokes that they “had ink in their diapers.” Over the next 24 years, from a name change to Battlefield Graphics Inc. to becoming one of the first to adopt 4-colour printing, Battlefield established itself as a quality, trustworthy print shop.
A New Home & Expanding Capabilities
1988-2000
In 1988, Battlefield moved to its current Burlington facility and continued its evolution into a full-service printing operation. Remaining first continued to be a defining part of our identity as our reputation for innovation grew. Throughout the 1990s, we added new equipment, refreshed our logo, and expanded our facility—further cementing our place as an industry leader.
Driving Innovation Through Technology
2000-2015
The early 2000s brought industry-changing advancements, and Battlefield embraced them fully. During this time, we adopted Computer-to-Plate (CtP) technology, installed our 6-Colour Heidelberg 40” CD UV and 12-Colour Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102 presses, and implemented Prinect Workflow Technology to streamline production and increase overall efficiency. We also expanded our capabilities with state-of-the-art die-cutting equipment. This period marked a time of rapid growth and significant technology-driven transformation for Battlefield.
Modern Growth & A New Era of Leadership
2015-Present
Over the last 15 years, Battlefield Press has experienced major advancements and strategic growth. This period included a significant rebrand to our current name, Battlefield Press, and the early adoption of LED-UV printing technology, which expanded our capabilities while preserving the quality we’ve been known for since day one. We also acquired Clearpak Inc., bringing paper and plastic folding carton expertise together under one roof, and strengthened our focus on folding carton manufacturing through ongoing equipment investments. In 2016, we proudly became the first Canadian printer to win the prestigious Sappi Printer of the Year Award. Most recently, we welcomed Thompson Printing as a division of Battlefield Press, continuing the legacy of another long-standing family business. Through all this growth, our foundational value of family has remained central, guiding every decision and partnership.
Our Leadership Today
Our roots hold firm as the Theoret family continues to lead Battlefield Press. Jerry Theoret recently stepped aside and appointed his son, Matt Theoret, as President. Matt’s passion, forward-thinking mindset, and drive to push boundaries further strengthen Battlefield Press’ reputation as an industry leader.
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one more responsive to change…”
